Taxpayers for Westerville Schools

Putting children and their education first and uniting the community…

Who Supports Us

Taxpayers for Westerville Schools (TFWS) is aware that there are many false representations about the tax reduction effort that has been undertaken. We would like to provide the correct information about who is supporting this effort.

The current petition effort to reduce Westerville school taxes has been funded, 100%, by district residents. The people leading this initiative consist solely of Westerville school district residents and business owners along with their friends and family.

We appreciate the overwhelming support from the community for this effort. We are very grateful for the many “Thank you!” and “We have been waiting for you!” comments we have received.

TFWS is appreciative of the multiple groups and media outlets who have picked up the story and have told their constituencies about the effort. We understand that the story has even been reported out of state.

TFWS reiterates that there is absolutely NO outside influence on this effort. There are NO groups besides Taxpayers for Westerville Schools driving this tax reduction effort. There was NO outside encouragement to start this effort, nor have we received any outside financial support.

Taxpayers for Westerville Schools did enlist the help of The 1851 Center for Constitutional Law for assistance with the petition language and necessary legal services.

  • Taxpayers for Westerville Schools contacted The 1851 Center for help. The 1851 Center did NOT come to us.
  • The 1851 Center has not provided, nor will it be providing, any funds for this effort. They are providing only pro-bono legal services.
  • The 1851 Center, since they are a 501(c)(3), has not been involved, nor will it be involved, in the signature gathering process.
  • The 1851 Center is not actively working on behalf of TFWS to solicit volunteers or funding.

TFWS welcomes the sincere questions of all Westerville school district residents and we will answer them as quickly as we can and to the best of our ability. You can ask questions by sending an e-mail to:

We have been, and continue to be, totally open about our goals and with our information. We appreciate sincere discussion about how to continue the community’s effort to make our schools the best they can be, always putting children first, while at the same time balancing that goal with the needs of the whole community, including the taxpayers.

Thank you for your support!
